Senior Associate Director | Land Management

Catherine is a Senior Associate Director in our Northallerton Land Management team.

  • Rural | Land Management | Planning & Development

She is a Chartered Surveyor and RICS Registered Valuer providing valuation advice for a range of assets and purposes in the North of England. Catherine combines this with a strong estate management background and has broad technical knowledge on landlord and tenant matters, residential and commercial management, quarry and woodland management.

Catherine joined Strutt & Parker in July 2013 as a graduate with an undergraduate degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management from Harper Adams University. Catherine qualified as Chartered Surveyor in 2014 and became a fellow of the CAAV in 2015.

Catherine primarily works with private clients has been deeply involved in estate management since 2017 during which time she has gained knowledge of the inner workings of a diverse rural estate in North Yorkshire. This includes the management of let farms, two working quarries, moorland, a diverse woodland portfolio and residential and commercial property. On a day to day basis this involves anything from liaising and managing estate stakeholders, rent reviews, cash flow management and budgeting right through to higher level strategic advice relating to diversification and succession planning.

Alongside estate management, Catherine is a RICS Registered valuer with over 10 years valuation experience which has included large portfolio valuations. Her work in estate management ensures she remains up to date with relevant legislation and market changes.

The broad spectrum of work means it is essential that Catherine remains up to date with policy and legislation changes. This more latterly has included the implementation of the Righters’ Right Act and the changes to APR and BPR in relation to Inheritance Tax. Policy and economic challenges have meant many clients are taking a more cautious approach over the last 2-3 years. As such, it has never been more vital to provide trusted clear and concise advice.

Catherine lives in rural North Yorkshire and in between spending time with her two small children, husband, and dog she is a keen runner and occasionally finds the time to cast a rod on a local river.
